چکیده

The influence of strong and electroweak penguin amplitudes in B/B̄ → ππ is investigated in connection with the determination of the unitarity triangle angle α of the CKM matrix. A relation between the observable asymmetry, the angle α, and the penguin amplitude is established. A model calculation of the penguin amplitude shows that the CP asymmetry in B → ππ decays is only mildly influenced by the penguin amplitudes. Experimental limits on pure penguin and penguin dominated processes are consistent with the model. This information also suggests in a rather model independent way that penguin amplitudes will not be a serious complicating factor in the determination of α from the ππ time dependent asymmetry. We reanalyze the decay Bd → π+π− without assuming dominance of QCD penguins with internal top-quark exchanges. In that case the weak phase of the b̄ → d̄ QCD penguin amplitude is not related in a simple way to the CKM angle β. Nevertheless it is still possible to extract the CKM angle α in a transparent and almost modelindependent way from the time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry of the transiti...

Extracting α from the CP Asymmetry in B → ππ Decays

The extraction of the CKM angle α from the asymmetry in B → ππ vs B̄ → π + π − suffers from a currently unknown penguin contribution. Experimentally, one can determine the magnitude and phase of the CP asymmetry from a time-dependent analysis of tagged events, and the average rate for B and B̄ decays to ππ from untagged events. These measurements, together with the magnitudes and relative phase o...

D ec 1 99 4 OITS - 566 CP asymmetry Relations Between B̄ 0 → ππ And B̄ 0 → πK Rates ∗

We prove that CP violating rate difference ∆(B̄0 → π+π−) = Γ(B̄0 → π+π−)− Γ(B0 → π−π+) is related to ∆(B̄0 → π+K−) = Γ(B̄0 → π+K−)− Γ(B0 → π−K+) in the three generation Standard Model. Neglecting small annihilation diagrams, and in the SU(3) symmetry limit, we show ∆(B̄0 → π+π−) = −∆(B̄0 → π+K−). The SU(3) breaking effects are estimated using factorization approximation, and yield ∆(B̄0 → π+π−) ≈ −(fπ...

Direct CP violation in B → ρ 0 ( ω ) PS

We calculate the direct CP violating asymmetry parameter, a CP , for B → π + π − π and B → π + π − K decays, in the case where ρ 0 − ω mixing effects are taken into account. We find that the direct CP asymmetry for B − → π + π − π − , ¯ B 0 → π + π − π 0 , B − → π + π − K − and ¯ B 0 → π + π − ¯ K 0 , reaches its maximum when the invariant mass π + π − is in the vicinity of the ω meson mass.   This paper studies improved factorization method, in the heavy quark limit, for B→Kπ decays. Paying attention to strong interaction scale AQCD, and calculating all parameters depending on that in the particular scale (the same as µ ) show that we can obtain better and comparable results for branching ratios such as BR(B0 → K0 π 0 )=8.5+0.7-0.5 × 10-6 and BR(B →π k0)=2.26+0.17-0.15 × 10-5, and...
